If you are looking for a sensible diet and weight loss plan, then you may want to consider a veteran program to the diet industry.  Weight Watchers boasts a program that is one of the most consistent in history.  They have stayed up with the times as they learn more about diet and nutrition and offer two sensible approaches to weight loss.

The Weight Watchers approach to weight management is based on sound principles of nutrition, calorie control that is effective and most importantly, livability.  The program sets the goal of losing weight and keeping it off.  The Weight Watchers philosophy is that dieting is only one part of the weight management equation.  They teach that by developing a healthy body, you are developing a healthy lifestyle that encompasses all aspects of health:  mental, emotional and physical.  Instead of just telling you what to eat, the program provides you with the tools, information and a good dose of motivation in order to help you make the best eating decisions.

The first plan that Weight Watchers offers is known as their FLEX plan.  This plan offers you a full range of options in food using a system of POINTS.  You are allowed to choose any food that you feel like as long as you stay within the recommended number of POINTS which you are assigned.

The second plan that Weight Watchers offers is known as the CORE plan.  This plan doesn’t make you count POINTS for each meal or snack, but you instead have a list of foods from which to choose.  This food list contains foods which are considered to be wholesome from each of the food groups.  You are also allowed a treat on occasion in amounts which are controlled.

One of the greatest strengths of the program is the weekly meetings that are held with other dieters.  This environment is a controlled one that offers support and encouragement.  The Meeting leader is a trained expert in the program and has lost their weight through the Weight Watchers program.  This is a great resource for dieters as they exchange tips, experiences and recipes.

Another option for Weight Watchers is their online program.  The website provides all of the tools that you need to succeed, including an online food tracker and weight tracker.  These tools are interactive so that you can see exactly what the effect of your program choices are having on your progress.

Weight Watchers is considered to be a workable and sustainable program that allows approximately a 2 pound loss each week.  Although there isn’t a diet program that will work for 100% of the population, Weight Watchers is perhaps one of the best choices available for healthy weight loss.
