Ok, Easter will be here tomorrow. The nefarious bunny will have left all kinds of treats behind. Chocolate eggs and bunnies are sure to surround you everywhere you look. Jellybeans galore. Sugar, sugar, and more sugar. What is a dieter to do?
Take a deep breath. You CAN do this. You have the power to make the decision to either give in or resist. It may be hard, but it will be worth it.

This Sunday, thousands of people will participate in an annual tradition of Easter Brunch. This is a time of family togetherness and good food. But just because you are on a diet, doesn’t mean that you can’t eat or participate in the festivities. You just need to be a little bit creative.
If you are eating out, this is a perfect opportunity to put into practice the steps we discussed back around Valentine’s Day. Or perhaps you are participating in a potluck brunch, or buffet. The principles are the same; it’s just another holiday to practice making smart choices. With all of this practice you are getting, you will be more than ready to take on the Thanksgiving and Christmas season when they finally arrive later this year. Make your Easter Brunch work FOR you, not against you.

Too often at holiday times, we find ourselves varying and straying from our diet plans. We make excuses for our dieting mishaps and blame it on whichever holiday we are about to celebrate. This is a dangerous practice that we need to overcome.
As I have spoken with different friends the past few days, there has been a general concurrence that too many of us are following an Easter diet filled with sugared candies and chocolates. We are bringing into our homes baskets of candy items and sweet treats to fill our Easter baskets. But we are instead stuffing our mouths with the items and then running back out to purchase more for Easter Sunday.

Last night I watched the premiere of the new season of Celebrity Fit Club. I’ll admit, I get a kick out watching the out of shape celebrities get worked over by Harvey. And the nutrition advice given by Dr. Ian Smith is spot on. The show airs on VH1 on Thursdays at 9:00 P.M. ET/PT. Click here for a sneak peak of the first show.
The season kicked of to a great start with four of the eight contestants returning for another round. In the case of Toccara and Dustin Diamond, I’m not sure that they gave enough abuse out the first time. They both claim to have reformed, but Toccara is already throwing her weight around with temper tantrums. We will just have to wait and see how Mr. Diamond behaves this season.

Yesterday, I ran away with my family to the movie theater. It was great fun and I was able to avoid the concessionary temptations that were placed before me and just have a bottled water. I did great and I felt good about my efforts to stick with my current eating plan. Then my husband threw a curveball into our plans for the day and suggested dinner out at the Outback. He was met with an enthusiastic “Yes!” and we were off to the restaurant.

I bought a new couch today…it is fabulous! I actually got an L shape sectional with dark brown leather and cream microfiber. It was time. I love it. However, the boys that delivered it sure had a difficult time getting it through one of my doorways. It just wouldn’t fit. We finally had to take apart the doorway and it was just able to make it through. If I ever sell this house, the couch may have to go with it. But then again….I love the couch, so I’ll make it fit! It will just require a little remodeling on my part.

Anybody catch Dr. Oz on Oprah yesterday? Well he’s my favorite doctor. Dr. Oz always has something interesting and fun, and maybe he’ll gross out Oprah if we’re lucky. Yesterday was about an experiment they did where a group of individuals were put in a zoo for 12 days. The plan was to eat the diet of an ape which is the equivalent of 11 pounds of vegan food a day. That is all the fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds that you can think of.

Since we have been spending so much time talking about vitamin supplements lately, I just knew you would want to know about this latest news. It appears that the makers of the dietary supplement, Airborne, have decided to settle a class action lawsuit regarding their purported claims that their product is a cure for the common cold. In fact, the effervescent tablets are nothing more than a huge dose of Vitamin C and a few other vitamins and herbs.

One thing that is helpful when you are dieting is keeping it simple. They say individuals that eat near the same thing everyday are usually thin. Of course that depends on what you eat but it is good to have a plan. I think what they were trying to say is individuals like this are consistent.
For my dieting needs I know how crucial it is to have breakfast, and that is the simplest plan on my diet. Banana, yogurt, and when I can find them an Our Daily Muffin. My husband keeps both his breakfast, when he is not to busy to eat it, and his lunch simple. It seems his lunch soup diet has served him well over the years.
