Spring: A Time of Renewal

There is something magical that happens when the first day of spring arrives. There is a distinctive shift in our brains and we begin to think of sunshine and all of the goodness that comes with it. We begin to revv up our bodies and prepare for outdoor activities. It is a time of rebirth.

For some of us, there is a panic that sets in. We realize that summer is just around the corner and our dream of a svelte body is slightly delayed. Bathing suit season is scary for some of us. Quite frankly, there are other things that we would rather be doing. However, this time of the year is a great opportunity to make the changes we have been talking about and not acting upon.

As we close the chapter on the comfort foods of winter, we open a book of healthy foods and slimming choices. We become satisfied with the bounteous fruits that are in abundance that are a little harder to come by during the winter. Visions of fresh strawberries dance through our heads. We dream of fresh spinach and strawberry salads. Our food preferences become lighter.

We also feel the urge to move more. Walking and other outside activities such as gardening move to the front of our minds. We find joy in the sunshine and look for ways to spend more time in it. Our fitness goals are renewed. Spring lightens our heart, our mind and our step. What are you looking forward to this springtime?
