I’m going to discuss meat. Some people can’t give it up. I’ll be honest; I went through a vegetarian phase. It lasted a long time. Both my husband and I practiced at being vegetarians for a good many years. I even suffered through my first pregnancy denying myself of a craving for turkey. I didn’t fair too well the second pregnancy. If I wanted meat I ate it.
Now that we are on again-off again vegetarians, I like to have a burger or what not every now and again. My husband, who is more the practicing vegetarian, now with his high cholesterol, will indulge during the holidays with us when we have a turkey or ham.
Just because I eat meat doesn’t mean I don’t want to be healthy and I know all there is to know about why I shouldn’t eat it. I did become a vegetarian once after all. So when I think meat, I think of ways to eat it more healthily.
There are two things I recommend when you are going to choose meat. One, select the leanest cut you can. Two, grill it or oven roast it. I recommend grilling and I can tell you there is nothing handier than one of those counter-top grills. They’re great for a million and one uses for any one; singles, workaholics and busy parents, or even just people that want to save time for more fun.
So, want to keep it simple and healthy? Make it lean, and get a grilling machine!
….I hope that isn’t somebody’s tagline….
