If you are new to the art of organic gardening, and do not have enough time to devote to a full sized organic garden, organic herb gardening is definitely the right way to begin. If you have a small amount of space, or can only work in garden boxes or a window sill, then an organic herb garden is ideal because it does not take much room at all to cultivate. Organic herb gardening is fast becoming a popular hobby because it is both simply to learn and easy to carry out. Organic herb gardening is so simple, that even children are becoming involved because everyone loves gardening and organic herbs are healthier than any others.

Organic Herb Gardening

Organic herb gardening makes a great hobby, as it gives people a way to grow all the herbs required for your favorite recipes in a healthy, pesticide and chemical free way that will add great flavor to every dish that you cook. The supplies that you need for organic herb gardening are actually quite inexpensive, and most can be found in a typical local garden center so you can get started fairly easily. Herbs are extremely easy to grow, and can quickly become a very rewarding hobby for anyone interested in organic gardening, or organic cooking. There really is little that is more satisfying than the chance to pick something fresh and healthy from our very own handmade garden, in order to add delicious flavor to all of our favorite meals. Everything that you plant using the principles of organic herb gardening can be used in your favorite meals, and organic gardening produces herbs which are much healthier than those produced using pesticides, store-bought fertilizers and other chemicals.

What to Grow? Herbs

You can find so much value in growing and cultivating an herb garden, because herbs are aesthetic, adding a wonderful fragrance to your entire organic garden. There are many different herbs which can be grown in your organic garden, so when choosing which herbs to grow you should begin with the ones that coincide with the type of cooking that you prefer. For example, if you enjoy cooking with fresh herbs then your organic garden should specialize in culinary herbs. You should do some research on your own to determine which herbs are best grown in your area, so that you are able to choose herb varieties which will thrive the best in your own little garden. Once you begin to use your own organic herbs in your cooking, you will probably never go back to dried, store bought herbs ever again.

Planting Organic Herbs

If you are beginning your organic herb garden with seeds, it is imperative that you read all of the instructions because all seeds have different requirements for proper growth. Organic herb plants are truly easy to grow and take care of, and do not typically attract many pests making it much easier for you to avoid chemical pesticides. Because organic herbs are so easy to grow, and can be grown in small spaces, they are a great option for window boxes indoors and outdoors, or in gardens both large and small. If you are looking for an introduction into the world of organic gardening, then organic herb gardening is the right option for you.
