airborne.jpgSince we have been spending so much time talking about vitamin supplements lately, I just knew you would want to know about this latest news. It appears that the makers of the dietary supplement, Airborne, have decided to settle a class action lawsuit regarding their purported claims that their product is a cure for the common cold. In fact, the effervescent tablets are nothing more than a huge dose of Vitamin C and a few other vitamins and herbs.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I still firmly believe that vitamin C helps to boost the immune system. A stronger immune system will help to ward off colds a little easier than one that is run down. But these supplements are a little on the expensive side for just a hopped up dose of vitamin C. However, I will give them props for a version of the vitamin that can be absorbed more easily. The vitamin is already dissolved, so the body doesn’t need to work so hard to take advantage of the nutrient. And it does taste pretty good.

So, will consumers keep buying the product that claimed to help ward off the cold and flu? We will just have to wait and see. However, the company denies any wrongdoing and plans to repackage the product removing all claims of colds, flu, and immune system boosting. If you are looking for a quick dose of vitamin C and the price doesn’t bother you, then I say buy away.

For those of you who want your hard earned money back, then click here to take advantage of a refund by the company. You can claim up to six boxes of the product without a receipt. The final approval of the settlement will be made in early June. If you happen to have all of your receipts, then the return will be worth the time you spent filing away those receipts. File your claim now while you are thinking about it. When your check finally comes, it will be a pleasant surprise. When it finally does arrive, you’ll be reaping the rewards of your diet and exercise plan and ready for a little something new anyway, right? I thought so.
