Want to shake up your weight loss routine? How about spending more time with friends in the same predicament? Friends can be inspiring. To achieve your weight loss goals by forming a local network of fellow dieters, you create an affordable way to get support if you don’t have money for weekly meetings in a weight loss program. Here are a few ideas for spending quality time wisely while supporting each other.
- Set aside some time each week for a group diet meeting with friends trying to lose weight.
- Take turns moderating so you can keep on schedule or select a moderator. Diet meetings should run the length of an agreed upon time so that each individual doesn’t feel like it takes too much time out of their routine thus dissuading them from participating.
- Decide together if you will log weights and set goals. You can leave it up to each individual how they want to handle it.
- Create a group email list for the dieting members in your group. Email each other throughout the week for support.
- Pair up so everybody has a diet buddy to offer extra support during the week.
- Read a good book together. There are many books on the market that would support a group of individuals trying to lose weight.
- Share tips. Everybody has a dieting or motivational tip to succeed. It is always fun to help others and they will appreciate your input.
- Trade exercise videos. Exercise classes and gym memberships don’t fit into everybody’s budget. If you have a good collection of exercise videos between everyone in the group you’ll find you may never be bored for a workout routine.
Now that you have a list of ideas for running a weight loss group…time to make some phone calls. Happy Dieting!
