Diet Shopping Woes

Brenda brought up some great points yesterday about planning your meals while dieting.  As it is a lazy Sunday, or should be; I thought I’d make a shopping suggestion that saves time when in the store and might help in our attempts at weight loss.  Hopefully this will keep you focused on your diet.

Sometimes you want to make a healthy choice but don’t have enough time to shop.  You’ve planned your meal and out of habit you might go to the store and select the same unhealthy products for your new healthy recipes.  While we don’t want to spend a lot of time in the store, we don’t want to buy the wrong thing either.  How are we going to loose that weight making the same mistakes?

When you have some time, try investigating foods you like before you shop.  Let’s say you want to replace a fattening chili cheese dip with something healthy; consult a food count book to compare your options.  You can easily scan the list of brands for your item and write it down on your grocery list to ensure you won’t walk in the store and reach for the same thing you’ve always bought.

It’s not just for foods you buy for consumption at home.  Most books will have nutritional info on different types of restaurant food so you can’t go astray while eating out.  You can diet at home or in a restaurant smartly.

Habits are hard to break and while we all have good intentions before we go shopping, when you’re standing in the store you might find you are still a creature of that habit.

Resveratrol Supplements can help you control your weight naturally
by increasing energy, reducing cravings, and limiting your appetite.
According to Wikipedia, Consumer Lab, an independent dietary
supplement and over the counter products evaluation organization,
published a report on 13 November 2007 on the popular resveratrol
supplements. The organization reported that there exists a wide range
in quality, dose, and price among the 13 resveratrol products
evaluated. The actual amount of resveratrol contained in the
different brands range from 2.2mg for Revatrol, which claimed to have
400mg of “Red Wine Grape Complex”, to 500mg for Biotivia.com Transmax,
which is consistent with the amount claimed on the product’s label.
Prices per 100mg of resveratrol ranged from less than $.30 for
products made by Biotivia.com, jarrow, and country life, to a high of
$45.27 for the Revatrol brand. None of the products tested were found
to have significant levels of heavy metals or other contaminants.
