There really is nothing better for our health than to become healthy by way of proper diet and nutrition, but most people fail miserably when it comes to eating a diet which is healthy and balanced. Most of the people who are eating unhealthily are actually victims of four extremely popular diet myths, which have been created over time by fad and flash in the pan dieting that advertises cutting out vital nutrients that your body should never do without.

The First Myth: Certain food groups should be eliminated for weight loss.

The Reality: There are a large number of fad diets out there that emphasize eliminating food groups, or focusing on certain food groups over others. Your body has to have a balanced diet that supplies all of the important nutrients to keep it healthy. Your body has to have water, vitamins, protein, fat, minerals, fiber, oxygen and carbohydrates. Eating a diet which is rich in vegetables, fruits, nuts and grains will help you build a strong immune system, which is a great way to keep your body healthy all of the time.

The Second Myth: The only way to get protein is to eat meat.

The Reality: Your body requires that you consume about 30 grams of protein each and every day. Dairy and meat products tend to be quite high when it comes to fat and sodium. You will find at least one gram of protein in every fruit and vegetable. The best proteins are found in nuts, oils, legumes and grains, so opt for those instead of meat proteins.

The Third Myth: Fat should be eliminated from your diet.

The Reality: Your body should have about 50 grams of fat every single day. There is no good reason to completely eliminate fat from your diet, because it allows your joints and your muscles to work as smoothly as they can. The best ways to get healthy fats are through raw nuts, olive oils and avocados. Avoid hydrogenated fats at all costs.

The Final Myth: Losing weight means going hungry.

The Reality: The average person should never consume less than around 1200 calories for a woman, and around 1800 calories for a man. If you are feeding yourself natural foods every day, there is no reason for you to go hungry. You can eat all of the fresh vegetables and fruits as you want, and you will never go hungry, and you will never gain weight. If you want to maximize how nutritious your foods are, eat them as naturally as you can. This means avoiding chemicals, and even avoiding cooking as often as you can.
