It truly is never too late for you to begin your very own personal journey when it comes to health and wellness. These steps provide a great jumping off point for any new health and weight loss plan.
Write out ALL of your goals! — When it comes to health and wellness, what is your vision? Where would you like to be a year from now, or five? You should set goals in varying time frames, such as three-month goals, weekly goals and daily goals, and base them on your overall vision for wellness. Goals should always follow the SMART model, which means that they should be Specific, Measurable, Action-Based, Realistic and Time-Oriented.
Ask Intelligent Questions! — Ask yourself the what, the when and the how. Make a list of things that are getting in the way of your wellness plan, and eliminate the excuses while focusing on the true hurdles.
Formulate a Plan! — Very few major tasks are accomplished without some semblance of a plan in place. Create a plan which outlines how you plan to accomplish your goals, and how you plan to overcome hurdles and setbacks along the way. This ‘game plan’ should be flexible, but it should also be strong and active.
Write in a Journal! — All of the facets of your weight loss journal, including your goals, obstacles, set backs, solutions, triumph and your overall plan should be included as part of your journal. Your journal should be yours and yours alone, so personalize it so that you will find it easy to continue using over time.
Take everything one step at a time! – Forgetting a step can have a negative impact on your entire plan, so take everything a step at a time so that everything falls into place the way it ought to, and so that no important steps are missed or skipped.
Clean House! — We mean this both figuratively and literally. It is impossible for us to function well when our home is a cluttered mess, and the same goes for our schedules and time management. You should eliminate activities and clutter which are not contributing in an effective way to your life.
Do not be afraid to Reward yourself! — It is a very good thing to feel good about yourself and your life. And it is okay for you to reward yourself when you accomplish something. Enjoy a meal at your favorite restaurant, buy yourself a brand new outfit, or take a relaxing bubble bath. Enjoy something you have been putting off, simply do not have time for, or buy yourself something nice. When you have small rewards to look forward to, it is easier to motivate you to succeed.
