Breakfast truly is the most important meal that you will have today, as it sets the standard for your hunger and your energy level for the entire day. If you have a poor breakfast, or skip breakfast all together, you will probably feel sluggish and hungry all day. Neither of these two characteristics are conducive to healthy diet or exercise, so avoid them by eating right in the morning!

1. If you are in a rush to leave for the office or for school, there are plenty of meal options that can be grabbed on the go and taken with you. Although eating in the car or on the run is not ideal, it is much preferable to not eating anything at all. Stock your pantry with portable food options, like cereal and breakfast bars, portable cereal cups, and fresh fruit and so on. Grab a couple of these items on your way out in the morning, and make sure you get the calories, vitamins and minerals that you need to start your day off right. Granola bars, yogurt and fruit are delicious, nutritious and perfectly portable.

2. A great option for a healthy breakfast is a combination of yogurt and granola. Sprinkle some granola into a cup of yogurt to add crunch and substance, making it an easy way to address your sweet tooth and your craving for something crunchy. With delicious yogurt at your fingertips, why opt for junk food?

3. You may not think of a peanut butter sandwich as a breakfast food, but they are a great staple item, and a great way to get protein and carbs first thing in the morning with little effort. Both peanut butter and jelly taste great on toast first thing in the morning, and it only takes a few seconds to put a sandwich or two together before you bolt out the door for school or work. Add a glass of milk to wash the peanut butter down and to get your calcium and vitamin D in.

4. Smoothies are a great idea for first thing in the morning, especially when you are rushing out the door. Just blend some ice, some fruit juice, yogurt and fresh fruit or frozen fruit in your blender. Within a few seconds you have a delicious vitamin-packed breakfast that you can pour into a glass and take with you. Smoothies are so quick and easy, and all you need is a blender. There really is no reason not to treat yourself to something so delicious.
