Why on earth would any company go through all the trouble of making a product they tout as healthy and use fructose corn syrup?
While I’m not going to get into a debate on whether all their health claims are true, I will take issue with using fructose corn syrup and still making health claims. All the advice we get from nutritionists includes a list of things to avoid and fructose corn syrup is one of them.
I know Activia has been out a while but I just had a chance to try the product out recently and I was not impressed. To further aggravate me I find out that one of the ingredients in the berry flavors is crushed beetles, something called carmine. I understand this is common in Europe and Japan, that’s okay, I hear it replaces artificial coloring, and surprisingly enough I find it less offensive than the fructose corn syrup. But do I really need my food to be colored to eat it?
Meanwhile a visit to their web page and I read the ingredient list further and they do point out that it is less than 1% of fructose syrup. And the point is? The point is they know people don’t want to read that there is fructose in the produce. So can they tell us why it is there?
Take note Dannon, Probiotics good, fructose corn syrup bad.
